According to a study conducted by the Análisis e Investigación group and published by Uponor, a construction materials company, almost 40% of Spanish residents would like to change their housing due to the сovid-19 pandemic. During the quarantine, many Spanish families came to the conclusion that their apartments are not suitable for long-term cohabitation due to a poor location, small area, a lack of open space and a number of other factors. At the possibility of re-introduction of restrictive measures, they think if not about purchasing new apartments, or perform repairs – usually in the bathroom or in the kitchen.

However, not all of them get ready to buy property in Spain or move to new housing in the very near future.Throughout the year, 8%are committed to doing so, and another 12% are seriously considering it. Most of them are renters under the age of 45 who rent an apartment with an area of less than 70 sq.m, who would like to have at their disposal more spacious rooms with a terrace or a small courtyard.

Other reasons for moving are availability of green areas and all necessary infrastructure within walking distance, as well as a desire to make economies of electricity consumption – 25-50%, which is possible in buildings with modern air conditioning systems. The latter factor is important for Spanish people of retirement age, who, among other things, prefer properties in good condition in houses with elevators located in quiet areas.2
